Cupertino, Calif., April 27, 2005 - Barracuda Networks, Inc., the leading provider of enterprise-class spam firewall solutions, today announced that the Barracuda Spam Firewall has been awarded the Network Magazine 2005 Innovation Award for "Security Product Breakthrough."

"Network Magazine's mission is to look beyond the technologies and methodologies that are hot today, concentrating instead on the architectures that will dominate IT a couple years from now. Given that, the winners of the 2005 Innovation Awards are true innovators that we believe will change the rules of the game," said Art Wittman, editor-in-chief of CMP Media LLC's Network Magazine. "These are innovations that will enable IT organizations to substantially better meet the needs of their business."

More than 200 applications were submitted for the first annual Innovation Awards held by CMP Media LLC's Network Magazine. After five months of deliberation, awards were determined by the publication's technology editors who selected winners based on what they considered to be the most important technology innovations of the year.

"We are thrilled to receive this recognition from such a highly regarded industry publication," said Dean Drako, president and CEO of Barracuda Networks. "Barracuda Networks' focus on product innovation continues to earn us industry-wide acclaim and, more importantly, creates a powerful spam and virus solution for our customers."

In Network Magazine's May 2005 issue, which features all Innovation Award winners, Technology Editor Andrew Conry-Murray touts the Barracuda Spam Firewall as a product that "speaks a language that appeals to security and business types by combining an effective solution for spam and viruses in a low-cost appliance." Innovation Award winners will be formally honored at a luncheon next week at Networld+Interop 2005 in Las Vegas.

"Innovation on its own means nothing unless it can be harnessed to deliver new or improved business strategies. The best innovations align technological creativity with business needs to create a business-optimized IT network," said David Greenfield, executive editor of CMP Media LLC's Network Magazine. "It's in this spirit that the editors of Network Magazine have come together to honor the most important and creative innovations of the year."
