Networld + Interop, Las Vegas, NV, May 4, 2005 - (Booth # 1019) Barracuda Networks, Inc., the leading provider of enterprise-class spam firewall solutions, today announced that the Barracuda Spam Firewall 300 has been awarded "Best Spam Prevention Solution" for the second straight year in the eleventh annual Network Computing 2005 Well-Connected Awards competition. The Barracuda Spam Firewall 300 bested SurfControl's RiskFilter and the Vircom modusGate v3.0 in this year's contest.

"We are honored to once again take home the esteemed Well-Connected Award for best anti-spam solution," said Dean Drako, president and CEO of Barracuda Networks. "The Well-Connected Award recognizes not only the superior performance of the Barracuda Spam Firewall, but also the ease of use and affordability that thousands of our customers worldwide have come to depend on."

Held annually by CMP Media LLC's Network Computing, the leading magazine for IT and networking professionals, the Well-Connected Awards recognize outstanding technology products and services and represent the very best products and services the technology industry has to offer in networking. Finalists and winners are chosen by the publication's technology editors, based on products that have been tested and evaluated in their real-world labs.

"The Well-Connected Awards are the only industry awards given by technologists based on real-world product testing and evaluation," said Fritz Nelson, vice president and group publisher of the Network Computing Enterprise Architecture Group. "These awards take the pulse of the technology industry and reflect the best of what IT has to offer. This is an important distinction from any other award program - the products selected in the Well-Connected Awards are unique because they have been graded with the same criteria IT professionals use to make purchasing decisions - truly the most outstanding products and services available."

The Well-Connected Awards are only for products that have been through analysis and testing by Network Computing in the previous year from May 2004 to May 2005. In the Network Computing comparative product review which included more than 30 other spam and virus solutions, the Barracuda Spam Firewall 300 was hailed as "one of the easiest products to get running and administer," and the product design was also lauded for its close "parallel to our ideal criteria for an enterprise-class spam filter - a free product that requires no administration and stops 100 percent of spam with no false positives." The Network Computing 2005 Well-Connected Award results were listed in the April 28 issue of the magazine and winners were honored this week at an awards ceremony held at Networld+Interop 2005 in Las Vegas.

Also this week, the Barracuda Spam Firewall was awarded the Network Magazine Innovation Award for "Security Product Breakthrough" for its appeal to "security and business types by combining an effective solution for spam and viruses in a low-cost appliance."
